At Nihonmatsu Castle (Kasumiga Jo) below Minowa Gate, in "Sen Nin 1000 Damari (1000 People Gathering) Plaza" there are many statues.
During the Boshin War in Keio 4 (1868), many young people lost their lives, and the boys's quad, Shonentai, from Nihonmatsu fought hard. Sculptor Hashimoto Kentaro memorialized their efforts here.
For this work of the squad and its leaders, the mothers sewed their clan emblem of onto their uniforms with their hearts full of deep emotion. This sculpture shows the scene of the Shonentai and their mothers.
