Nishida Memorial Hall is on the way to Tsuchiyu Onsen from Fukushima City, inside "Anna Garden" From here you can see the magnificent Azuma mountain range spread before you, and the Fukushima cityscape.
This place commemorates the late Nishida Minekichi who loved Michinoku and kokeshi dolls, and in the traditional kokeshi pavilion there are 10,000 dolls, including Nishida's 3,500-doll collection. We introduce kokeshi history and traditions of other areas, and kokeshi that are important because they date from before WWII.
The organizer was Nishida Minekichi. He loved and collected these dolls and related materials and he wished to leave it all to Fukushima so that it could all be available to the public. He donated the lot to Toho Bank Education and Culture Foundation, which established the Nishida Memorial Hall for kokeshi as a source of information to promote local culture by this Toho Bank Foundation.
