The fifth lord, Tamba Takahiro, following advice of his minister Iwaida Sakuhi, also a follower of Confucious, built a monument at the gate.
The stone was placed at the entrance of old Nihonmatsu Castle. It is said that the stone monument was made in one night with an inscription someone carved into the natural surface of the stone.
On Dec 24, 1935, the government designated this as a valuable exemplary standard of educational materials, and in addition, the superb "Kaisekimei stone monument to former Old Nihonmatsu clan" was made a national historical site.
